Nighttime Skincare Routine: Winter 2018

A week ago I posted my morning winter skincare routine, so as promised– Here is my nighttime winter skincare routine!

Here’s how my skin generally is in winter: Dry, cracked, dull as hell.

Here’s how I want my skin to look in winter: Glowy, youthful, perfected.

This winter I’ve been very methodical with my skincare, taking care to use products that contain brightening ingredients, such as lemon and orange. These products (most of which are in my morning skincare routine), help to brighten the skin, while my nighttime products work hard to maintain the hydration level of my skin. With that in mind, these are the products I use nightly, in order.

Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel (Usually $28, but ON SALE for $23– I hope they aren’t discontinuing this….)

I love this stuff. It is a makeup remover and cleanser all in one. It effortlessly removes my face and eye makeup, and leaves my skin baby soft, but not overly dry. It’s just a really nice product that works super well. If they discontinue this, I will be so disappointed. However, in case they do, they do have other varieties of this product that work pretty well.

Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray ($7-14)

I use this after my cleanser to prep it for my moisturizer. I also use this to set my makeup, and on top of makeup for a little hydration refresh. This is a nice multi-use product at a great price point. I let this soak into my skin until it’s almost dry, and then apply the rest of my skincare routine.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($47-127)

I swear this is the last blog post that I will mention this product in… for at least a few months. It’s just so good!! The mix of essential oils really helps my skin to regenerate, and I swear I wake up glowing because of this product. It is expensive, but it’s worth every penny.

Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment ($29-48)

This is another product I’ve spoken about before. I tend to have super dry eyes during winter, sometimes to the point where I cannot wear eye makeup because I look like a lizard woman. This has saved my undereyes. I also love it because it doesn’t transfer into my eyes and sting.

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins ($44)

I said that my approach to skincare has been brightening and hydration– this does both. This is obviously infused with vitamin C, because it has a really lovely orange scent. It is a little bit greasy, but it works well to hydrate my skin because it is very heavy and luxurious in texture.

Origins Drink Up Intensive ($27)

This is another product that I consistently rave about. I don’t use this every night, but I do use it about half the time to up the moisture in my skin. Depending on how dry my skin feels, I’ll use a little bit of this and concentrate it on the center of my face, or I’ll use a light layer all over my skin. Drink Up has a fruity scent as well, so I know it’s helping to boost the glow.

I use about the same number of products at night as in the morning, the difference is their consistencies. In the morning, I try to use products that are light and brightening, while still being hydrating. At night, I focus on hydration and place the brightening as a secondary goal. This is the only set of products that I have ever woken up feeling like I’m glowing with, so for me, they’re all winners!
